WISH LIST
Below
you will find our wish list of things to help us progress in the
development of the museum.
SHORT TERM
- BUILDING a
"place for the museum - ideally: a building in downtown Mt Pleasant
that's at least 10,000 square feet with
some green space around it, handicap accessibility. We are interested
in land, an actual building, or a potential leasing option. Out
of the 300+ American children's museums, over 70% were donated
buildings. We are hoping for the same opportunity.
- GROW
EMAIL as many individuals and groups as possible joining
our email list of supporters so we can show the scope of interest in
our community.
- FOUNDING
MEMBERS Increase our founding members as we work toward our
capital campaign total of $3 million dollars in the hopes of every
level of giving being reflected -- from $10 to thousands.
- TOY
MAKERS Local toy makers to participate in future events
and potential
gift shop artisans.
- VOLUNTEER
HELP in a variety of areas.
- ARCHITECT eco-minded local architect
who might have an interest in doing pro-bono work.
- CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS lumber, nails, wood, paint, floorcovering etc. We are interested in reusing materials. If you have uesd or new and would like to donat we will assess them according to our needs. Note of special thanks to Habitat for Humanity Restore located on Pickard and Maint in Mt Pleasant for all of their generous donations.
LONG
TERM
- YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD (local students
age 8 - 17) that meets monthly to think through the museum and
brainstorm its possibilities - began in the fall of 2009.
Interested young people should contact:
- SUPPLIES building
supplies such as lumber, nails, bolts, etc. for exhibits
- COMMUNITY
CONNECTIONS Local people who will help us celebrate local
history - e.g. Agricultural development, the Oil and Gas Industry, the
Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, The Wheatland Music Organization, local
colleges and universities - and more.
- VOLUNTEERS
We will need scores of volunteers to run exhibits and educational
programs once we are "built".
